Vision and Mission
Vision
‘Biblionef believes that every child, wherever they are in the world, should be able to read.’ As a result, children’s literacy skills are improved, stimulating their personal and social development. Children are therefore more likely to develop into socially aware and balanced members of their communities.
Mission
‘Biblionef gives children the pleasure of reading, because reading opens up their world.’ Biblionef provides access to attractive and informative books appropriate to the age of the children in the language they are taught. Biblionef does this by, among other things, creating an enriching reading environment by training teachers and library staff, involving the (local) community (think parents, neighbourhood centres, hospitals and orphanages) and by cooperating with partners with a similar or complementary mission.
Biblionef thus supports the UN Sustainable Development Goal SDG) 4: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and provide lifelong learning opportunities for all”; and the SDG 10: “Reduce inequalities within and among countries”.
Biblionef also supports article 17 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child of the UN: “Governments shall encourage the production and dissemination of children’s books”.
