And so it was quiet
If you are familiar with Biblionef, you will know that we do a lot of work. Our team works throughout the year to make the joy of reading possible for children all over the world. This year, we were incredibly busy once again; every week brought new challenges, and we regularly came together at the office to work collectively toward achieving our goals. We are, however, more than just a team; we are a large, close-knit family with a shared mission: we are the Biblioneffers.
But suddenly, it became quiet. After all the hustle and bustle of the past year, the cleaning up, the packing, the organising, we had to bid farewell this week to a very important person for Biblionef; someone who dedicated themselves heart and soul to our organisation for many years, first as a director and later as a board member and chair: our beloved Aagje van Heekeren.
When I first met her, I thought: When I grow up, I want to be like you. So heartwarming and welcoming, so full of enthusiasm for helping children and providing them with the opportunity of a better education, bringing stories to them and introducing them to the joy of reading.
Aagje, our Biblionef family will miss you tremendously but we will continue doing our utmost to realise your dream, just as you did: to bring the joy of reading to every child.
Rest in peace, dear Aagje.
